Create a buzz about your business; attract an audience to your event!  Find out how to spread the word and reach your target audience using public relations techniques that work for businesses and not-for-profit organizations.  Tara Collins, Director of Communications for the Watershed Agricultural Council, brings extensive experience in both the private and public sectors to this interactive session.

Blog Your Way to Success -- May 7 -- Special time 6:00 pm

Blogging is one of the fastest growing aspects of the internet and most effective ways to communicate your message.  Learn the ins and outs of blogging and why you should have one of your own.  At the end of this dynamic hands-on session, you will have created your own blog. This session is led by Elizabeth Buchinger, Copywriter & Project Manager for Grafiqa Creative Services of Oneonta, who blogs on a daily basis. 

Writing Copy that Sells -- May 13

Send a message to customers that boosts sales. Explore the issue of what to say to different types of customers, when to say it, which media format to use and how to call people to action. This session is led by Margaret S. Inge who writes the award-winning business column, At Your Service, for the Catskill Mountain News.  A former network television executive, she has written copy for all media.

Marketing Design -- May 20 -- Special time 6:00 pm

A picture is worth a thousand words…what do your logo and advertising really say about your business? Learn what the colors, fonts and other graphic elements you use are communicating about your business.  Find an answer to the key question, “when can I do it myself and when should I hire a professional designer?”  Lisa Tait, a graphic designer and Managing Partner of Silvertop Graphics of New Kingston leads this session.

Retail Marketing -- TBA

The key to profitability for any store is attracting a steady flow of traffic and building customer loyalty.   Learn to create the combination of advertising, promotion and excellent service that makes your store a destination – they’ll keep coming back for more. This session is led by Dorothy Maffei, owner of Home Goods of Margaretville, one of the region’s enduring retail success stories.

Small Business Marketing -- TBA

An interactive exploration of marketing basics -- put all the pieces together:  learn the difference between marketing, advertising and promotion and how to use each effectively; identify the Four P's of marketing and learn to apply them to your marketing plan. This session is led by Joan Lawrence Bauer, Executive Director of the M-ARK Project, who holds an MBA from SUNY New Paltz, is one of the region’s leading marketers and business advocates.

Marketing Your Inn -- TBA

Attract more guests and keep them coming back again and again.  No matter what kind of lodging establishment you run, you will find ways to generate new business and make your inn a destination unto itself.  This session is led by Ben Fenton, proprietor of River Run Bed & Breakfast in Fleischmanns.  Ben was previously a Director of Marketing for the Marriott and Hilton Hotel chains.
